*SKM All India Convention Adopts Demands

                                          28th July 2026, New Delhi   

 *Anti-FTA Mass Protest on 10th August at 1000 spots*

 

 *Will submit Charter of Demands to the PM, CMs, Leader of Opposition, MPs and MLAs on 17th August 2026* 

 *Kisan March, Multiple Day Mass Actions from 26 November 2026 at 100 spots including New Delhi*

 

The All-India Convention of the SKM held at the Civic Centre Auditorium, Minto Road, New Delhi today adopted 7 Principal Demands including No India-US Free Trade Agreements, repeal all Free Trade Agreements, enact a law for MSP@C2+50% with guaranteed procurement for all crops, Comprehensive Loan Waiver to end rural indebtedness and peasant and daily worker suicides, and Provision of Rs 25 lakh compensation to each peasant suicide victim family, Scrapping of 4 Labour Codes, Minimum wage of Rs. 26,000 payable to all workers, Restoration of MGNREGA ensuring 200 days of work and Rs 700 as wages, Withdrawal of the Electricity Privatisation Bill 2025, the Seed Bill 2025, the NFSA Amendment Bill, No forceful land acquisition, No pro-corporate land pooling, and Protection of land rights based on LARR Act 2013 and FRA 2006 for tribals and non-tribal forest dwellers.

Farmers will observe 10th August—the 84th anniversary of the Quit India Day—as a massive protest day with various actions, such as Jail Bharo, Rail Roko, and Road Roko at 1,000 spots across the country against anti-national FTAs. Several organizations and platforms have decided to support and coordinate with SKM.

On 17th August, SKM delegations will submit the Charter of Demands to the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, the Chief Ministers and the leaders of opposition of all states, MPs and MLAs demanding favourable action about the principal demands.

The SKM will hold State Conventions in the next two months to prepare for a long haul of independent as well as coordinated struggles. All member organisations will commence independent and coordinated campaigns such as Mass Padayatra, Vehicle Jathas and Tractor Marches culminating in Public Meetings, Mahapanchayats, and State Rallies.

On 3rd October the Lakhimpur Kheri Martyrs Day Village Mahapanchayat will be held and the member organisations will prepare the list of volunteers for a long haul of struggle from 26th November 2026 till the crucial demands are achieved.

If the BJP-led Union Government continues to violate its own written assurance of 9th December 2021 including MSP and loan waiver and does not accept the demand charter, the SKM will intensify the struggles. The convention has called upon the farmers to prepare for Kisan Marches and multiple day mass actions starting from 26th November 2026 in New Delhi and 100 spots across India. The form, the spots and the date of the struggles will be decided on time. 

One of the leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party, Ashutosh Ranka  greeted the Convention and shared the experience of the successful students' struggle that forced Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, and appealed for larger unity of students and farmers in the forthcoming struggles. 

The Convention adopted two resolutions. One demanded the Delhi Government to provide adequate land at the Singhu border to establish a Martyrs Memorial to honour the 736 farmer martyrs of the historic one-year-long Farmers Struggle at Delhi borders. The second was on the severe drought, flood and ecological crisis and the need for an effective disaster management system with public sector insurance corporations to compensate for loss of crops, livestock, housing and livelihood.
